Thermal Blanket -v- Solar Cover -v- Leaf Cover

IF YOUR POOL OR SPA IS HEATED PRIMARILY WITH A HEAT PUMP, THEN WE RECOMMEND CHOOSING A THERMAL BLANKET

The first thing you need to know is that, unlike solar pool covers, thermal pool blankets don’t heat the water. What they do, however, is retain the heat, and they do it well. A good quality and well fitted thermal pool blanket is capable of retaining around 75% of your pool water’s temperature. If you have a heated pool, that’s a big deal and translates into a potentially huge energy cost savings.

Thermal pool blankets are essentially insulators. They are made from thick, waterproof polyethylene foam. The outside of the thermal pool blanket totally blocks sunlight and UV rays that may encourage algae growth from entering the pool. The underside of the thermal blanket is impermeable to both water and pool chemicals.

Thermal pool blankets don’t deteriorate as quickly through exposure to sunlight, and, as a result, last considerably longer than solar pool covers (bubble blankets). A pool can lose up to 10 degrees overnight if uncovered. Thermal Covers have twice the insulating properties of bubble covers and save you $ in heating costs.

SOLAR POOL COVERS or more commonly known as BUBBLE BLANKETS

A cost effective and convenient way to save water and heat your pool at the same time, Solar blankets are made from a film containing thousands of tiny bubbles, which work together to collect and retain heat in your pool. The blanket floats on top of the water (bubble side down) and allows solar energy to pass through – trapping and retaining the heat in your pool.

If you have chosen to heat your pool using Solar energy, we narrow it down to a solar pool cover, or more commonly known as Bubble blanket. You’ll save water, reduce chemical consumption and make it easier to maintain your pool.

Solar blankets are supplied as a rectangular sheet and therefore need to cover the entire pool including steps. Our qualified technicians will come on site and correctly measure your pool or spa to ensure you get the correct blanket for your pool at the waterline.

LEAF COVERS – WINTER COVERS

Leaf covers are the ideal choice for pools that experience excess garden and leaf debris. If leaves, debris, ducks and other animals are a problem in your pool, then a fitted Leaf cover is ideal. Made of a specialist mesh fabric, these trampoline style pool covers let rain water in, but keep everything else out. Covers are custom made to order, and can be fitted to any pool shape – ladders, rocks, water features and even an infinity edge can be accommodated.
When in use, a Leaf cover is secured to the pool surrounds with special fittings, and when the cover comes off, so do the fittings. This way there are no protrusions left on the pool edge, so when you pack the cover away, it’s completely out of sight.
